Efrén Chacón es sin duda uno de los chicos mas populares de la comunidad LGBTQ de Seattle, su trabajo en POCAAN lo ha llevado a conocer infinidad de caras nuevas que han llegado a la ciudad en busca de nuevos amigos y Seattle Gay Vip.NET lo felicita por haber sido Elegido por la UNITY COALITION/COALICION UNIDA para recibir el “2007 Unity Coalition Luis Penelas Courage Award” por sus logros dentro de la comunidad, la agencia que le brinda el reconocimiento es una agencia sin fines de lucro enfocada a los derechos gay de la comunidad, esta agencia tiene sus oficinas en Miami, Fl. Y es para ellos el 3er año que tienen Los premios Azúcar.

“It is our pleasure to announce to that you will be the recipient of the 2007 Unity Coalition Luis Penelas Courage Award, for your work in educating and leading on issues concerning the transgender community.
UNITY COALITION/COALICION UNIDA is Florida's leading Latino/Hispanic gay civil-rights nonprofit initiative, offering leadership on issues that concern Latino/Hispanic LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) and other minority groups.
You join a fine group of award recipients for 2007, including our Politician of the Year, Local Media Award, Community Organization Award, Community Service Award and the Luis Penelas Courage Award. Penelas was a nationally respected civil activist, preservationist and community leader. As a spokesperson for LGBT issues, HIV/AIDS and Civil Rights, Penelas served on various community boards, as well as a founding member of Unity Coalition. Always outspoken and usually controversial, his style and courage will be remembered fondly. Luis passed away July 2006 and will be greatly missed.

Celebrating its 3rd successful year, Premios Azúcar® will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, 2007 at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium – 2901 West Flagler Street, Miami, Florida. Developed to recognize the positive efforts of artists, entertainers, the media and organizations working with the Latino/Hispanic LGBT community of South Florida, Premios Azúcar enters 2007 with a full week of events & festivities, including fashion Show Kick-Off Party, Miami Masquerade Ball® benefiting Unity Coalition, a red carpet media event, los Premios Azúcar at Miami-Dade County Auditorium, Unity Coalition Community Service Awards, and the Premios Azúcar Show.

Many media and community leaders, TV & radio personalities, artists & performers, as well as elected officials and the community as a whole will participate in this wonderful celebration of the Latino/Hispanic LGBT community and its allies. “
